Cinda Collins

I have always had a fascination with images and advertising of pre 1970 twentieth century. It was probably this interest that led me to become a sign maker, and being a sign maker that led my art into the direction of pop-art.

Although I have had some formal training I hold no degrees, just a love of nostalgic images – Tiki, Carnival and circus banners, black velvet paintings and all of the other kitsch images from that era of the last century.

Creating this type of work involves a lot of historical research, and new facts always lead to new images and artistic directions. It is this aspect of the creative process that keeps me constantly developing new themes and new methods of bringing these ideas to life.

Some of the media I work in: scratchboard, screen printing, die cut vinyl, intaglio, block print and watercolor. I have also studied sculpture and book arts, and hope to be developing these areas in the not too distant future.
